Edward Clayton

Owner / Director

I’m an English ex-engineer who fell in love with Melbourne while studying abroad and decided to call it home permanently in 2013. My parents always nurtured two things in me – an entrepreneurial spirit and the importance of a strong work ethic – and those values continue to shape how I approach business today. After founding and owning Maid to Clean for over 12 years, I remain passionate about building services that genuinely help customers while creating opportunities for great people.

After stepping away from the day-to-day running of Maid to Clean and passing the reins to our General Manager, Tomasz, I turned my focus to expanding the group’s offering through growth and acquisitions, including welcoming Exterior Clean Melbourne in 2025. My role now centres on growing the business as a whole – supporting our teams, fostering a positive and healthy culture, and continually improving systems and efficiency so we can deliver outstanding results for our clients.

Outside of work, life has recently become even more exciting as I’m now a proud father to our baby boy Theo, and enjoying this new chapter alongside my beautiful wife Pauly. Between parental duties and growing the business, I still try to squeeze in plenty of golf and gym time, and whenever possible I enjoy catching up with friends, listening to audiobooks, gaming, and unwinding with a good fantasy or sci-fi series.

I’ve been part of the Maid to Clean business for almost a decade and it’s been an incredible journey watching us grow into Melbourne’s most trusted cleaning service. Over the years, I’ve poured my heart into customer service, scheduling and building strong, supported teams. I’m proud to have played a role in shaping something so special and to now be leading MTC’s latest chapter.

I’ve recently stepped in as the Head of Exterior Clean Melbourne (ECM), the newest addition to the MTC family. I work closely with both our customers and site teams to ensure every project is strategically planned, clearly communicated and delivered to the high standards ECM is known for. From first enquiry and quoting through to onsite delivery and completion, my focus is on delivering quality results, honest communication and a seamless customer experience. I believe that great results come from strong teams and I’m hands on in keeping our office and site teams aligned, supported and connected to the culture that drives ECM’s success.

Away from the office, my proudest job yet? Being “mummy”. I am now living out my dream with my two little loves, my son and my daughter – The ones who make my heart explode. Forever grateful to carry the title of ‘mum’, a role built on purpose, chaos and a whole lot of love. There’s truly no magic like it!

I’m the original founder of Exterior Clean Melbourne and have owned and operated a number of businesses over the years, with ECM being my most recent. I love working with people, building long-term customer relationships, and it’s such a joy to see the transformation of spaces through the work we do. Curiosity is a big part of who I am, and I’ve always enjoyed learning, building, and refining things over time.

I’m someone who really cares about integrity in all aspects of life. Clear communication, solid preparation, and delivering high-quality results matter to me, and I’m always interested in elevating the bar. For me, what people remember most about a company is the quality of the experience — the communication, the care, and how well they’re looked after from start to finish.

In 2025, after more than a decade of building Exterior Clean Melbourne, I was very happy to sell the business to Maid to Clean, as we share strong values and a genuine commitment to putting the customer first. I really enjoy working with the Maid to Clean team and being part of a value-driven organisation that cares deeply about its people and its customers.

Outside of work, I live in the beautiful Dandenong Ranges, am happily married, and share my life with two wonderful dogs. I love nature, good food and wine, and have a real passion for cooking wood-fired pizza.

Customer Support Specialist
I started my career in retail, where I learned fast that great customer service is all about connection and  communication. From there, I naturally moved into customer service and admin roles, where I found my sweet spot,  being organised, keeping things running smoothly, and making life easier for both clients and teams.

For the past two years, I’ve been part of the team at Exterior Clean Melbourne as a Customer Service Specialist. I’m the one behind the scenes making sure enquiries are answered, bookings are locked in, invoices are sorted, and our quoting team has everything they need. I thrive on keeping things flowing and making the whole experience feel easy, seamless, and stress free. Nothing makes me happier than knowing a customer feels supported and looked after from start to finish.

When I’m not working, you’ll probably find me lost in a binge worthy show marathon, brunching my way through the weekend, or off travelling, cruising, and sprinkling a little Disney magic wherever I go. Life’s better with a little fun, a little adventure, and a lot of sparkle! ✨
